Your Guide to Meditation for Mindfulness

An introduction to mindful meditations

Being mindful and taking care of our mental health has grown in importance. It’s a topic that is being discussed across countries and companies. Celebrities, like Stephen Fry who is the President of charity Mind, are sharing their own mental challenges. And how mindfulness and meditation has helped.

From Lady Gaga to Oprah - many A-Listers swear by mindfulness and meditation. But what is it? And what happens when you meditate?

Meditation can have many forms: from sitting still and banishing all thoughts, to walking through a forest letting your thoughts run free (or even talking). The word is derived from the Latin “mete”, to measure, and thus, we might say that meditation means considering something to its full measure.

Meditation allows for our own answers to rise up from within. Without being distracted or even intercepted by others (whether those close to you, or societal norms). It’s allowing yourself the time to come up with your own answers. And it’s also about trusting yourself to know the right answers for yourself.

With my background in tourism, as well as last year’s big hike, meditation comes easily to me when I walk the dogs or when I travel in general. I feel I have a bit more of the shaman in me, where meditation often takes the form of an internal journey.

“I have long held the belief that journeying doesn’t only happen when you set a foot outside your door.

Many journeys happen during meditations for mindfulness. We journey to the mysterious caverns, the glorious mountain tops, and the endless woodlands inside of you.”

— Claudia Unger

The Art of Journeying

There is a strong connection between journeying the globe and journeying the soul: it’s opening up new ways to see the world, raising more questions, and allowing answers you couldn’t have thought of before.

Sometimes, the learning gets lost; or we are not aware that we might learn something new. We are closed off to learning. Usually because of limiting beliefs that are holding us back, stuck, and - mostly - stressed.

What I’d like you to take away from these guided meditations for mindfulness is the assurance that you are making your own decisions that are right for you at this time.

Soul Journeys

I created meditations for mindfulness as a way for you to focus on your own personal growth: using different media to access and influence your subconscious and conscious mind. I like to call them Soul Journeys. They follow the Celtic calendar (see below).

The tools you receive are self-directed. Meaning you don’t have to talk to anyone or share your thoughts, secrets, and feelings. Unless you want to go that extra step. These mindful meditations provide you a safe space that is entirely your own!

There are two parts to this offering:

  • The guided Meditation for Mindfulness: this is an audio file between 15-20 minutes long. It follows a hypno-therapeutic script, meaning that you can fall deeper into the meditation and do the work - while at all times being fully in control of yourself! The guided meditation takes you into a specific situation, like making a good decision, and allows you the time and space to let the answer come up within you. Throughout this time you are guided by my voice and calming, peaceful background music (usually something with the Celtic Harp).

  • The Workbook: this is a pdf file of about 15 pages. It includes the blog written on the topic of the week, contemplative questions for you to journal on, an Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Tapping Script*, and an Affirmation for the week. The workbook speaks more to the logical mind and anchors your experiences from the guided meditation into actionable steps.

*If you’re unfamiliar with tapping, please watch this video introduction. It’s really an easy way to release something that no longer serves you.

You can purchase meditations for mindfulness, Soul Journeys, on the individual topics or you can opt for an annual subscription. That way you receive your self-care routine directly to your inbox every week! You need about 60-90 minutes to get through all the components, but you can pick and choose what feels right for you to do.

Please remember that when you go on a Soul Journey you’re stirring things up because you’re expanding yourself. You might feel emotional, drained, or tired. That’s normal. Make sure that you drink plenty of water after your journey (just like you would if you were actually on a hike).

The Seasons

The eight seasons that are informing the Soul Journey meditations for mindfulness are based on ancient Celtic cultures. Each season has a high time and the energies flood and ebb between those.

I started the Soul Journeys at the beginning of the tides to Ostara. The high time during this season is the Spring Equinox and there are six weeks of this energy of new beginnings and nurturing seeds. The seasons’ length varies between six to seven weeks.

Here is the 2024/25 schedule that I’m following:
